Virtuoso Board Member Receives Civic Award

Recently appointed Virtuoso Strings board member Soulivone Phonevilay has received a Civic Award from the Porirua City Council for services to the community.

She received the award at a ceremony at Pātaka for Volunteer Week in June for her services to the refugee and migrant communities. She is a community leader and mentor for the Lao community, where she teaches traditional Lao dance, and she is one of the founding members and Inaugural President of the Porirua Multicultural Council.

She was appointed to the Virtuoso Strings Board in April this year. She has a Master’s degree from Victoria University and is a Senior Advisor in the Ministry of Health. Her daughter Journey is a member of the Virtuoso Strings Orchestra.
